Getting Ready
The first days of school are quickly approaching. This will be my first year teaching k-4 and I'm trying to get everything in order. In addition to working out my curriculum, I'm also trying configure my classroom management strategies, and complete my supply list. I have found so many great ideas by reading through a bunch of blogs. Now I just need to organize everything! As I get this all put together, I will try to post as much as possible.
Congrats on your new blog! And the job too...
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of questions: I didn't notice a sink in your photos. Do you have one? If not, where do you need to go for water for painting, handwashing, etc?
Another question: Your tables covered with the colored cloths look cute, but I'm wondering how easily they will pull off as the kids sit at them. I've never done anything but use a bare table, occasionally with newspaper covering. I'm also curious as to what looks like a clear plastic under the paper.
Good luck, and I'll be checking back to see what you are up to!
Hi Phyl,
ReplyDeleteI do not have any sinks. This being my first year doing this I am trying to figure that out. We've completed a drawing unit and a collaging unit so I haven't needed sinks a whole lot. Often times I have to tell kids to wait till they get back to their classrooms. I plan on bringing some five gallon buckets in for days when I know that we will be getting really messy.
I quickly got rid of the table cloths. They were shredded after the first day. I kept the clear plastic though because it's really durable and won't shred. The colored ones were just so that students would remember their table colors. Each table is a color (red, blue, yellow, and green) and has matching totes for when we need specific materials. when my students line up... I call them by color based on clean and quiet tables, so it isn't a mad chaotic rush to the door.
